Each residence hall is equipped with at least one microwave, one refrigerator and one set of a washing machine and dryer for student use. Appliances, cooking or otherwise, with enclosed heat sources may be permitted in residence hall lounges and rooms. Examples include a kettle and rice cooker. Appliances that are not to be used in residence halls include but are not limited to hot plates, grills, toasters, toaster ovens, electric frying pans, deep fryers, coffee makers, and space heaters/air conditioners. All appliances and electrical equipment used in residence must be approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). If you have a question about an appliance that you would like to use please consult the Residence Life Director.

Room Furnishings

Each student is provided with a single bed, desk, desk chair, storage, blinds or curtains, and waste-basket. These furnishings are the property of Providence and may not be remodeled, removed, or stored outside of the room. Any movement of furniture that causes damage will be charged to the student’s account.


Each residence has a sublounge or common area that are intended to encourage and accommodate the shared living experience of residence. They are all equipped with a kitchenette that includes a full-sized refrigerator, sink, microwave and some limited storage space for dishes. Each sublounge also has couches, coffee tables, tables and chairs for eating, studying and relaxing with your residence mates.

There are two main lounge areas on campus. The first is in Eichhorst, where there are couches, tables and vending machines. The second is in Taylor, and is known as the Hub. The Hub consists of much of the entire bottom floor of Taylor and includes a full kitchen that anyone can use, large lounge and study spaces, a classroom and a worship space known as the Sanctuary.

Vending Machines

Vending machines are located in the Reimer Student Life Centre, in the Eichhorst main lounge, in the Hub in Taylor and in the Hanna Centre lobby.


Toilet paper and replacement light bulbs are available at no charge to residence students and are regularly stocked in the residence buildings. If supplies run out, please fill out a Maintenance Request Form.

Free non-electrical parking is available in two lots on campus to all students in residence. Electrical parking is also available for a fee.
