Class Cancellations

The decision regarding class cancellation is made by the University College and Seminary Deans, and will be based on the best available information from Environment Canada and Manitoba Highways Information Services.
In the event of a storm, Providence will announce the cancellation of classes over CBC AM 990, CJOB AM 680, CHVN 95.1 FM, and AM1250/Radio Southern Manitoba. The announcement will also be put on our web page, on the Campus Wall of the Providence App, and on the MyProv Newsfeed on Facebook. Students are expected to check the Providence home page and the Providence app for more detailed and/or updated information.
Depending on the severity of the situation, classes may be cancelled for the morning, for the whole day, or the school may be closed for the day.
  • When classes are cancelled for the morning only, the UC and Seminary Deans will reassess the situation by 10:00 a.m., and decide whether or not to cancel afternoon and evening classes as well.
  • In all circumstances where afternoon classes are cancelled, evening classes, rehearsals, practices, and events will be cancelled as well. Faculty and students are expected to check the website or the campus wall regarding this change.
If no announcement is made regarding Providence, our classes will be on.
