We offer FREE access to basic Wi-Fi service and Microsoft Office 365 on campus. Providence also has a variety of computer facilities available on campus. Students have access to the main computer lab near the library, Seminary students have access to a small lab on the Seminary floor and there are research stations in the library for all students. Lab and library computers have the latest version of Microsoft Office and laser printers are available in those locations. Laser printing is billed at 10 cents per page and colour printing (available in the library) for 20 cents per page. Kiosk computers are located in public areas of the Reimer Student Life Centre and the Hanna Centre for basic email and web browsing.
Access to the campus network requires a network login account. The IDs and passwords are generated and emailed to students automatically after the student is registered for classes. If you have not received this email it is possible that the Registrar’s Office does not have your correct email. Please visit the Registrar’s Office in the Welcome Centre and give them your correct email address so that we can send you your login details. For assistance with login, please come to the IT Department on the first floor, across from the Student Development offices.
Wi-Fi service is available throughout the campus. In order to mitigate problems with virus-infected devices, which can severely disrupt the network, registration of each device is required. Registration is done by following on-screen instructions when trying to browse the internet and is a one-time process. If your browser does not automatically go to the registration page please go to campus.prov.ca to register your device.
Internet Data Plan Options
Students who wish to use the campus network for higher bandwidth applications such as YouTube or Netflix may purchase a Gold or Platinum data plan for the semester. See details below. Students can purchase data plans at the Business Office.
