Latin American & Indigenous Student Bursary

Amended Bursary Criteria | January 2026

Award amount: $10,000 split between successful applicants. This bursary is awarded equally between two semesters (fall and winter).

Preference given to:
Latin American Indigenous students who are active members of a Latin American Indigenous community and are committed to using their education to support their Indigenous people group following graduation.

Consideration also given to:

  • Latin American students (non-Indigenous)
  • Indigenous students (from any country)

In order to receive the above bursary, students must meet the following criteria/requirements, as facilitated through the online application form:

  • Applicants must write a 500-word essay including their desire to obtain a Providence education, their plans to serve their people as a result of their education, and the potential impact of financial assistance
    • Indigenous students please include a brief summary of Indigenous heritage
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need
  • Applicants must demonstrate leadership and experience in community service
  • Applicants must provide at least one letter of recommendation from a community leader, emailed to financialaid@prov.ca
  • Applicants must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student in either the EAL, EAP, University College or Seminary
  • Applicants must meet the minimum AGPA requirements of 2.0 (for University College) and 2.5 (for Seminary)
